Do you think consumers should avoid over packaged products or is it the responsibility of producers?

Image result for over packaging examples

In my opinion over packaged products poses a threat to the environment and it should be reduced to a bare minimum level. According to me both the customers and the manufactures should share the responsibility of this burden.

First of all, during the festive seasons the products are over packed unnecessarily, just to give a flashy and gaudy look. After opening the product, the wrappings are discarded. The plastic material used for the packaging when dumped does not get decomposed and is consumed by the stray animals. So at the consumer end, people should avoid buying such over packaged products. In addition people should also organize awareness campaigns on social media and other platforms about the ill effects of the discarded packaging materials.

On the other hand, producers should also understand their responsibility regarding the use of packaging material. Nowadays lot of research is going on to invent new and unique packaging materials. The nature of packaging industry is changing dramatically. According to the new regulations virgin or raw plastic usage is being reduced. Instead companies are being encouraged to use recyclable and re-usable plastic. Companies like Nestle and PepsiCo already have started using this practice. Research is going on to develop new fiber based packaging material. Robotics is also being introduced to develop smart packaging to cut down the food wastage. Many companies are changing to bio-active packaging which has a positive effect on the consumer’s health. In addition, active packaging is also gaining popularity to satisfy the consumer’s demand for natural, recyclable and biodegradable packaging material.

To recapitulate, it can be said that over packaged products can be easily avoided by the consumers to send a message across the producers who can shift to safer ways of packaging.

Research indicates that characteristics we are born with have more influence on our personality and development than any experience we may have in our life. Which do you consider to be the major influence?

Image result for personality

Study points out that the people born with certain inherent traits have an astounding effect on their personality and growth, in comparison with experience and knowledge they gain during their lifetime. In my opinion, the qualities which a person inherits at the time of birth do affect the building of a personality, but gaining experience and knowledge has a profound influence in shaping the personality.

Personality is a set of characteristics that reflect the way we think and act in a given situation. It is formed by four basic elements that are physical environment, heredity, culture and particular experiences. An individual develops his personality with a combination of these four aspects. When an individual is encountered with different situations he responds to them uniquely. These responses develop into habits and thus form a personality type. For example when Mahatma Gandhi was humiliated and thrown out of the train for riding first class, he responded strongly in a non violent way, and started a freedom struggle. That was a turning point in his life that shaped his personality and destiny.

With the new experience, a person develops new habits, develops etiquette and forms new attitudes. These are the stepping stones to form a personality. It has been noted that, whatever a child imbibes during the first seven years, forms the foundation of his personality. The new observations and experiences make a lasting impression on his mind. For instance Thomas Edison was expelled from the school during his childhood, but his mother didn’t make him realize about the fact. She encouraged and taught Edison at home, who turned out to become one of the world’s greatest scientist.

To recapitulate, it can be said that genetic traits do affect the personality of a person to some extent, but the environment in which he is brought up and the experiences that a person go through, deeply impact the personality.

Essay – In some countries, an increasing number of people are suffering from health problems as a result of eating too much fast food. It is therefore necessary for governments to impose a higher tax on this kind of food. To what extend do you agree or disagree with this opinion.

Image result for obesity

Essay-1

Nowadays, there is a high proportion of people consuming fast food around the globe. This has caused some severe health problems to these people. Everyone loves fast food because it is delicious. In addition, people can save the time to prepare food to their children especially the parents who are workaholic. They ignore the bad effects of the fast food such as obesity. Therefore, I agree that governments shall impose tax on fast food to some extent.

First of all, I think a higher tax shall be imposed on fast food because the health of the citizens is important to the development of the country. For instance, if a person has his daily meals with the consumption of fast food, he is likely to face the problem of obesity after a period of time. Besides, high blood pressure and high cholesterol will be followed. With the health problems suffered, he is likely to be the worker with the lowest productivity. This will affect the economy of the country as a result.

Secondly, the reason why a higher tax shall be imposed on the fast food is because it can remove the choice of people when making a choice as to what type of food to consume. It is undeniably that people choose to eat fast food as it is cheaper and it can be prepared within minutes. With a higher tax imposed, people will not choose fast food as the cost of consuming fast food will become a burden to their expenditures. Consequently, people will prefer home-cooked food which is much healthier and cheaper.

Many people make the assumption that imposing a higher tax on fast food will not reduce the number of people who suffer health problems. They argue that the advertisements of fast food telecast-ed on multimedia such as television could be a reason for people to consume fast food. As fast food advertisements often relayed during dinner time, children are attracted to the images of the fried chicken. The result of this is children will ask their parents to bring them to fast food restaurants and enjoy the meals at there. This explains why children face health issues at a younger age. Therefore, I suggest governments can limit the time of fast food advertisements broadcast-ed on television. The advertisements should be beamed during the midnight instead of the dinner time.

In conclusion, I agree that with the higher taxes imposed on fast food, the number of people consuming fast food will decrease significantly and thereby the health problems faced by the people will decrease as a result. However, to solve the problem effectively, government should take action by changing the time of advertisement broadcast-ed on television. It is undoubted that fast food advertisements portray the fast food during dinner time can affect people in making decision as to what to eat especially when they are hungry.

Essay – 2

Nowadays, it is doubtless that food-related illnesses are increasing in our modern society. Furthermore, the issue regarding the impact that eating junk food could have on our health is widely debated. As far as governments’ decisions about taxing fast-food consumers in concerned, I believe that they should find another strategy in order to promote a healthier way of eating.

Firstly, governments should not impose extra taxes on eating habits. Every human being is basically free to act as he or she likes, our behavior should be dictated by some moral and ethical principles, rather than by the fear of a fee. For instance, every patient can refuse a therapy, even if he is in a life-threatening condition, if he thinks that it is better for himself. In the same way, everyone should be left free to eat whatever they want, even if it causes some sort of disease. Governments should, therefore, improve awareness campaigns to prevent food-related diseases, in order to sensitize the citizens towards the harmful behaviors, rather than simply add a tax to the food people buy.

Furthermore, another alternative to the imposition of new taxes, could be an improvement of citizens’ knowledge about nutrition. By giving people the right information about a proper dietary intake, governments could benefit from minor costs in terms of healthcare. For example, in my opinion, nutrition and health courses should be implemented and organized in every school, from the lowest grade of education, up to the highest ones. Thus, in the future, we would witness an increasing self-consciousness about diet-related diseases, such as diabetes and cardiovascular accidents.—– In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the given opinion, because I believe that governments should pursue other strategies in order to face these problems. Only by increasing the knowledge about the risks of harmful eating behavior, and from a widespread information about the rules of a healthy lifestyle, it is possible to fight against these medical conditions. In this specific case, prevention is the key.

Essay – How widely do you think the problem spreads that people spend too much time on work than their personal life and experience time shortage? What problems will it cause?

Image result for spending too much time at work

The issue that people are putting long hours of work and spending less time towards their personal life is widespread, because of cut throat competition, rising economic inequality and travelling far for work. Because of this phenomenon, it leads to decreased productivity, sour relationships and rise in health problems.

In today’s rat race, majority of the people feel financial insecure, which leads them to work overtime to prove their work to their employers. Secondly, sometimes it is very important for the people to do more than one job to keep both ends meet. Ferocious competition and meeting deadlines has further compelled the workers to spend more time at the workplace. For instance, people working for BPO’s and KPO’s often put in extra hours of work to earn additional income.

Spending longer hours in workplace often leads to health problems like, stress, depression, heart problems, obesity and back pain. In India certain types of jobs like in police and other armed forces, people have to spend long hours of duty and away from home for a long time. This often sets in lots of stress and depression among the soldiers which has even led to committing suicide. Secondly, spending less time with the family often sours the relationships and can lead to divorce. Moreover, children can often indulge in bad habits in the absence of crucial parental guidance. Lastly, putting in more time at work can reduce the productivity of the workers. It is said “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”

Finally, it can be concluded that giving time for personal life is also very important, because it rejuvenates and prepare people to cope up with all adversities at the workplace.

Essay – Marketing strategy for some companies is, offers and discounts, for some it is reputation. Should consumer goods companies concentrate special discounts and offers to promote their products or they should focus on reputation? What do YOU think is more important?

Marketing strategy plays a crucial role in the growth of a firm. Many companies face this moot question that whether to focus on offers and discounts or to build stronger reputation. I would advocate to invest in special discounts and offers on regular intervals. This will aid in grabbing attention of more consumers and foster company’s turnover periodically.

To begin with, companies have to spend on advertising to promote special offer campaigns. For example, when Nestle promotes its Maggie noodles at special discounted price, it attracts more buyers than its standard price advert. This proves that Nestle will not only promote their product but also build a reputation in the market.

Moreover, short term discounts can boost up revenues of a company. Take for instance; Startups usually hit the market hard with weekly or monthly offers. This strategy usually generates decent revenues for that period. This example evidently shows that special offers can effectively contribute to the growth of a company. From this, it can be said that the former strategy can kill two birds in one shot.

In a nutshell, investing in discount and offers will reap more benefits as it also contributes to publicity for companies. Thus, it’s in the best interest of companies to promote their products in this manner. Therefore, I strongly believe adoption of this strategy can lead to expeditious progress.

Essay -Company’s top level authorities should get their employees in decision making process. Discuss. OR Organizations involve employees in decision making process of their products and services. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of both.

Image result for top level meeting

Top level managers are always in need of delegation to make day to day decisions. Deploying employees in decision making can be risky at times. Many higher level authorities feel that employees should be utilized to do what they are initially hired to do; on the contrary, others want to push them to responsible positions of decision making. Both sides will be critiqued before “A” reasoned conclusion is found.

Today, many hold the idea that employee’s involvement in the decision making process may damage the company. For example, various factors need to be considered prior to making any decision. An unhedged risk may lead to substantial losses. This exemplifies that only mature managers should participate in decision making of the firm.

Conversely, involving employees in decision making may bring out the inside hidden talent for the benefit of the company. Say for instance, often it is the employees who deal with clients directly and they know exactly what initiatives would best serve the organization. It goes without saying that authorities must back employees and push them in a role of decision making.

All in all, after diligently analyzing these two point of views, it is believed that employee participation in decision making with the support of management can be beneficial to the company. It’s is felt that, advantages of employees involvement is decision making outweigh the disadvantages.

Essay – Whether experimental learning (learning by doing) can work well in formal education. Agree/Disagree? OR Experience is a more effective way to teach as compared to books? Agree/Disagree?

Image result for experiential learning

Gaining knowledge and skills through practical and training, is more productive in comparison to learning only through textbooks. I agree to the above statement because it is the most effective way to remember the lesson, a person can learn how the bookish knowledge can be effectively utilized and opens up diverse ways to demonstrate creativity.

A student learns numerous lessons from the books, but experimenting that education will have a deeper impact on his mind. He would remember those lessons throughout his life. For instance in most of the Engineering curriculum a six months of practical and industry exposure is mandatory. This helps the students to utilize his bookish knowledge effectively in field.

Utilizing the knowledge gained through the education and implementing it practically, will help the student to apply that learning in his daily life. Thus the concepts are clarified when put to practical purpose. In this way a student develops skills and gain experience. For example, students studying in IIM (Indian Institute of Management) in India, learn the business strategies through simulating hundreds of case studies and comes up with diverse solutions. These solutions are then implemented in various business houses to achieve success.

Practical learning develops and brings out the creativity among the students. Instead of learning already established facts, they are encouraged to come with variety of solutions to a particular problem. A lot of inventions and discoveries are happening across the globe because of the creative minds which the students have developed. Steve Jobs, Bill Clinton, Mark Zuckerberg, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison are few persons who have used their creativity to contribute to the mankind.

To encapsulate, learning through books and implementing the knowledge accordingly to create something new is the best way for effective learning.
